Break out the champagne! Some of Le Bilboquet’s best tied the knot this summer: General Manager Dobi Trendafilova to colleague Jean-Baptiste Parvais, and Maitre d’ Martin Martinov to the lovely Vaneli Bojkova. Trendafilova and Parvais were betrothed in Rome, Italy, while Martinov and Bojkova were united in Balchik, Bulgaria.
Returning home for the season, Martinov and Bojkova celebrated with friends and family with a reception at The Colony Hotel. Guests included Philippe Delgrange, Dobi and Jean-Baptiste Parvias, Tiffany and Simon Isaacs, David Rothschild, Richard Rothschild, Andrew and Steven LaRochelle, Adam Platz, Amanda and Tony Cummings, Dayna Hardin and Ken Bernardo, Danielle Rollins and Tom D’Agostino, Yaz and Valentin Hernandez, Maribel Alvarez, and Nick Mele, among others.
Martinov tells PALMER how the special day came to be.
How did you meet?
The short explanation is a fun set-up by Vaneli’s mom who suggested Vaneli come to Le Bilboquet to meet a fellow Bulgarian “by happenstance.” Let’s just say her mom played matchmaker on both sides and neither of us caught on—but once we met, the rest was history!
What was your first date?
I took her to the outside courtyard at LoLa41 restaurant at the White Elephant Hotel on Palm Beach.
How did you pop the question?
Since early on in our relationship, we love to cook romantic dinners at home. It was nothing out of the ordinary to make a fancy dinner with candles and a romantic setting, but she definitely did not expect the dessert! I had the ring in a covered display and presented it as a surprise dessert… Well, it worked!
Where and when did you get married?
We had an intimate wedding of just close family at the BlackSeaRama Golf and Villas overlooking the Black Sea in Bulgaria.
What did you wear?
I wore a custom made David August tuxedo. Vaneil wore a Milla Nova gown and custom made veil.
