Aspen ArtWeek at the Aspen Art Museum is still a few days away, but you bidding for this year’s ArtCrush auction is officially open.
Powered by Christie’s, this year’s online auction features over 50 artworks donated by major artists, including Jonathan Lyndon Chase, Allison Katz, Emma McIntyre, Shota Nakamura, Marina Perez Simao, and more. Meanwhile, Design Miami has “lent its curatorial eye” for a section of object d’art by the likes of Gaetano Pesce, Mattieu Blazy, and Rino Claessens, among others.

Jamile, ISGM, Boston (2019) by Zanele Muholi. Baryta print, third in edition of eight. Expected to fetch between $20,000 to $30,000.
Lots range from under $3,000 to over $300,000, with part of the proceeds supporting the museum’s artistic and educational programs. Additionally, the artists themselves have been invited to retain a portion of the proceeds. This move is a nod to the fact that the AMA was originally founded by artists, and is an effort for the auction to be as sustainable and equitable as possible.
Lonely Stallion (2020-2021) by Gideon Appah. Oil and acrylic on canvas. Expected to fetch between $50,000 to $70,000.

Three Hommage à Le Corbusier LC14 Tabouret Cabanon (2024) by Matthieu Blazy. Burnt chestnut wood. Expected to fetch between $7,000 to $10,000.
Aspen ArtWeek runs from July 31st to August 3. The ArtCrush Gala takes place August 2nd. The gala celebrates the museum’s 45th anniversary, and the 10th anniversary of its Shigeru Ban-designed building. Ban, along with artist Jacqueline Humphries and composer and artist Jason Moran, will be honored at the event.
