Fans can’t get enough of I Deserve Couture—the humorous fashion Instagram account run by frequent PALMER contributor Hanan Besovic. Ahead of the major fashion weeks in New York and Europe, the Palm Beacher fills us in on what he’s most looking forward to.
What is your earliest fashion memory?
My first fashion memory is actually a picture of my mom. I remember as a kid I always saw a picture of my mom where she was wearing a tight white skirt below her knees with a white button up with a huge black belt that perfectly matched her black heels. Definitely a picture I will never forget.
What was your first designer piece?
I grew up very humble so I didn’t go shopping for luxury. But I remember I thrifted an Yves Saint Laurent shirt that I wore to every possible chance I could.

Who is your favorite designer?
Currently I love Daniel Roseberry for Schiaparelli and Thom Browne. Favorite of all time is Alexander McQueen.
First runway show?
Valentino couture fall 2021 in Venice. It still feels surreal to say that.
New York, London, Paris, or Milan?
Can’t chose. New York for the vibe, London for the rawness, Milan for beauty, Paris for chic.

How would you describe the Palm Beach look?
In fashion lingo, the Palm Beach look is Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, and Zimmerman.
Favorite quote on fashion?
“Being stylish and being fashionable are two entirely different things. You can easily buy your way into being fashionable, style is in your DNA” —Iris Apfel.
What shows are you most excited to see at NYFW this season?
I always have my favorites when it comes to NYFW and that is usually Carolina Herrera, Area, and Monse. Out of the newer designers probably Luar, Diotima, and Willy Chavarria.

What is the biggest fashion faux pas you can make in PB?
Being under-dressed is the biggest faux pas.
Who is your pick for best dressed Palm Beacher?
I would be crazy if I didn’t name myself.
Is there anything you’d like to add?
Pieter Mulier’s work for Alaia should be studied be the Ivy League schools.
