Fashion Week kicked off with a chic start thanks to the annual Couture Council Luncheon. As previously reported, this year’s event honored Simon Porte Jacquemus for his unique and modern way of crafting a distinctive brand image. Throughout the afternoon, rumors swirled that the designer is in the running to take the top job at Chanel.

After introductory cocktails on the balcony of the David Koch Theater, guests were invited to dine and watch event co-chairs Sarah Wetenhall and Deena Aljuhani Abdulaziz present Jacquemus with his award. Throughout the ceremony, guests were given a preview of the Museum at FIT’s upcoming exhibit, Africa’s Fashion Diaspora.

Attendees included Audrey Gruss, Jamee Gregory, Lara Meiland-Shaw, Liz Peek, Kara Ross, Rickie De Sole, Yaz Hernandez, Lizzi Bickford Meadow, Alina De Almeida, and PALMER Editorial Director Stefano Tonchi.
