There is nothing more sophisticated than a party among the stacks. On Monday, the New York Public Library held its 2024 Library Lions Gala, celebrating a group of individuals for their achievements in the fields of arts, culture, and scholarship. This year’s honorees were historian Jon Meacham, director Spike Lee, author Amy Tan, environmental writer Elizabeth Kolbert, and playwright Suzan-Lori Parks.
Palm Beach’s Kathy Rayner held court along with Tony Marx and Abby and Howard Milstein—all of whom attended PALMER’s Radical Wolfe screening earlier this year, in conjunction with the New York Public Library. After cocktails in the lobby of the Stephen A. Schwarzman building, guests were led upstairs for dinner.
Other notable attendees included Tonya Lewis Lee, Martha Stewart, Gay Talese, Senator Chuck Schumer, Francis Ford Coppola, Peggy Siegal, Patricia Duff, George Farias, and Merryl and James Tisch.
