Most Palm Beachers know Nacho Figueras as the handsome Argentine polo player and Ralph Lauren model who is married to the beautiful Delfina Blaquier. The couple have four children—Hilario, 24; Aurora,19; Artemio, 15; and Alba, 11—and live in Wellington, where at least one of their children rides in the hunter jumper set. But what many don’t realize is how entrepreneurial Nacho is and what big plans he has out in Wellington.
PALMER spoke to him about his plans for the area, his new project with Prince Harry, and more…
How much time do you spend in Wellington?
We travel a lot and were in Los Angeles in October for the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic. We’re in Wellington and Miami in November, but also Punta del Este, Saudi Arabia, Santa Barbara, Buenos Aires, Bridgehampton, and Aspen—where we organize and play “snow polo” with Melissa and Marc Ganzi (who also own Santa Rita and the Grand Champions Polo Club in Wellington which just clinched the sixth and final medium goal tournament of the fall season, triumphing in the Casa Blanca Polo Fall Cup).

What is “snow polo”?
We play polo in the snow at the Aspen Valley Polo Club, also owned by Melissa and Marc Ganzi, which hosts the St. Regis World Snow Polo Championship in December. We play summer polo there too in July and August.
Where do your children go to school?
Well, one is in college and another is out already, but our daughters are actually home schooled.

Nacho and his family.
Didn’t you play with Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, in Wellington last season?
Yes, we played the Royal Salute Polo Challenge to benefit Senebale. The Duke of Sussex was the co-founding patron and scored a goal, taking the ball out of the air.
We hear you have a Netflix series coming out soon. Can you tell us more about it?
Yes, its called Polo and its a docuseries coming out in December produced by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Archwell Productions. It offers a behind-the-scenes look at the world of polo and the challenges of competing at the highest level. I’m not the main character but happy to be involved. I always love introducing polo to a wider audience.
There is so much development happening in Wellington. What do you think about all of this?
I think it’s great! Wellington needs new schools, hospitals, restaurants, and entertainment. Its such an exciting time here. I’m also very excited about bringing soccer to the Palm Beaches and plan to introduce a men’s and women’s soccer team which I will probably call the Palm Beach Football Club. I want to build a stadium that can be used for both soccer games and other entertainment, like concerts, too We’re still finalizing the exact location for the stadium, but I’m incredibly excited about the potential of this project. A professional sports franchise, for both men and women, brings so many benefits to a community—jobs, entertainment, and a new sense of pride. It’s a project I’m passionate about, and I look forward to seeing how it develops.
