An ongoing list of some of our favorite people.
Jeffrey Lurie
Palm Beach is famously home to a great many NFL team owners. But this week, Lurie is the star of the show now that his team, the award winning Philadelphia Eagles, are the reigning Super Bowl champions. It is the second time in history—all under his leadership—that the team has taken the league’s top trophy since he became their owner in 1994. Lurie and his wife, Tina, have called Palm Beach home for decades, and are respected and valued members of the community both here and in Philly.
Frances Fisher
The number of Palm Beach philanthropic associations and cultural foundations supported by Fisher is almost too long to detail. Her determination to give back has seen her on the boards of everything from the Palm Beach Civic Association, to H.O.W. (Hearing the Ovarian Cancer Whisper). Most notably, she also serves as Chairman of the Board at the Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens—to which she just endowed a transformative gift. This week Fisher, along with her husband Jeffrey, announced she is donating $1 million to launch the Magnolia Society, which will focus on the preservation of the museum in perpetuity
Ghislain d’Humières
The well respected and charming Director and Chief Executive of the Norton Museum of Art has traversed an interesting cultural route to Florida. The French-born d’Humieres began his career in New York, in the 18th century furniture and jewelry departments at Sotheby’s and Christie’s. By the early 2000s he jumped into the museum world, doing stints in institutions across the country, including the deYoung in San Francisco and the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art at the University of Oklahoma. In 2020, d’Humieres relocated to West Palm Beach to lead the Norton. Over the past few years, he and his partner, Swiss architectural and production designer Nicolas von Lehndorff, have become fixtures on the town’s social scene and are almost single handedly changing the cultural fiber Palm Beach, and turning it into a world-class center for art.
