Tennis legends Andre Agassi, Steffi Graf, Andy Roddick, and Kim Clijsters  gathered together in Palm Beach to host a “Grand Slam Weekend” at The Breakers. The event commemorated the official opening of the resort and club’s new world-class racquets complex. The weekend benefited First Serve USA — an organization dedicated to empowering youth through education, life skills training, and mentorship.

“Our reimagined tennis and racquet facilities reflect The Breakers’ ongoing commitment to deliver world-class amenities, and we’re excited to expand the celebration of this new complex so the public can enjoy this extraordinary Grand Slam Weekend,” said CEO Paul N. Leone “It’s an honor to welcome such iconic tennis champions while supporting First Serve’s meaningful mission to inspire and uplift local youth.”

The newly transformed racquet center features 12 tennis courts across three surfaces (hydroponic grass, hydro clay, and cushioned hardtop), dedicated pickleball and padel courts, comfort stations with refreshments, and a fully-equipped stretching deck.

Guests included John Lloyd, Justin Gimelstob, Chris Lewis, Kelsy and Kevin Anderson, Martin Blackman, Lisa Kerkorian, Andrea Leand, Vince Spadea, Kathy Leone, Woody Gardner, Marianne and Dean Metropoulos, Scott Scherr, Leonard Lauren, Jim Coleman, Krista and Frank Spino, Missy and Jay Moorehead, Sherri and Jack Grace, Anna and Bo Polk, Philippe and Debra Dauman, Katie and Jamie Pressly, Kristen and Charlie Krusen, Anne Prosser Russell, and John Cohlan along with The Breakers President Tricia Taylor and members of the Kenan family.

On Friday, Agassi, Graf, Roddick and Clijsters faced off in a fun mixed-doubles exhibition, umpired by Emmy award-winning comedian Michael Kosta. Later, club members and guests were invited to a dinner featuring a Q&A panel with the players, a live auction, and entertainment by Kosta, as well as the Marquee Show Band with The Voice finalists Steve Memmolo and JChosen. A highlight of the evening was the naming of the new center court in honor of Director of Tennis Ken Thompson for his nearly 40 years of dedicated service to The Breakers. Also recognized, was Palm Beach Atlantic University President Dr. Debra A. Schwinn. On Sunday, participants played alongside pros, including Roddick, Kevin Anderson, the Bryan brothers, and Danny Wuerffel, in a round-robin-style pro-am tournament.

“We are incredibly grateful to The Breakers for hosting this amazing weekend that supported First Serve,” said First Serve President Cynthia Kanai. “The events allowed us to further our mission of empowering youth facing adversity by providing mentorship, life skills, academic support, and tennis training – helping them become leaders in their South Florida communities.”
