As Wellington is home to a great many accomplished equestrians, it’s no surprise there was a keen interest in the Kentucky Derby. Derby of Dreams: Racing for Arts and Academics was held at the USPA National Polo Center in Wellington. The evening supported the Dreyfoos School of the Arts Foundation, which offers award-winning academic programs and resources for students in grades 9 through 12.
Chaired by Nancy Hart, Karen Swanson, Francine Walker, and Alix Troast, the event honored USPA Global President and CEO J. Michael Prince, and philanthropist Kimberly Bluhm for their contributions to the arts and education.
Guests — including Frances and Jeff Fisher, Dan Swanson, Sally Kimball, Caroline Harless, Paul Gervais, Rosalind Clarke, Gil Cohen, Heather Chang, Althea Ceasor, Stephanie Dorr, Isabella Diaz, Dr. Robert and Julie Desnick, George Elmore, Marti LaTour, Holly Meyer and Ed Lucas, Katherine Parr, Kristin Snyder, Donna Snow, Lisa Kerkorian, and Martin Stein — enjoyed a live broadcast of the Kentucky Derby, a spirited auction, and groundbreaking performances from Grammy and Tony Award-winning musicians including John Lloyd Young from The Jersey Boys.
