Incontri in Galleria: An Intimate Dinner with Achille Salvagni

In New York this week, celebrated global designer Achille Salvagni and PALMER Editorial Director Stefano Tonchi hosted Incontri in Galleria, an elegant dinner at the Achille Salvagni Atelier on Madison Avenue. The collectible design gallery and award-winning multidisciplinary architecture and design firm has offices in Rome, London, and New York. This was the third in thier “Incontri in Galleria” dinner series and it celebrated the release of PALMER VOL 8. Guests, many from the art and design worlds, included: David Maupin, Victoria Hagan, Kim Heirston, Maynard Monroe, John Demsey, Kelly Bensimon, Priscilla Rattazzi, Andrea Franchini and Cian Connor, Ivan Olita, Josh Greene, Anna Flores Piran, Robert Stilin, and Vittorio Calabrese.

During the event, guests explored the Atelier’s latest collectible designs – from its iconic Spider Maximus Chandelier to its curvaceous Alligator sofa and Aldus collection of small objects. The highlight of the evening was the new Santorini Cabinet, a monolithic piece cast entirely in bronze from the same foundry as the Vatican. The monolithic cabinet is designed as an homage to the artistry of the Bronze Age Minoan civilization and figures of monkeys are engraved along the four doors as inspired by frescoes discovered in the ancient port city of Akrotiri. It features a deep, impenetrable black color, reminiscent of the island’s volcanic earth, while its interior is clad in polished golden bronze with contrasting lacquered red shelves. This is a limited edition of just three pieces.
