A new independent school promises to reshape education in Palm Beach County

Palm Beach County’s future changemakers may soon be found in Wellington, where a new PreK–12 school, Wingrove Academy, is set to open in 2028. Announced this week by ElevateED—the education group behind the project—the nonprofit academy aims to marry rigorous academics with championship-level athletics, vibrant arts, and a strong emphasis on whole-child development.

The school takes its name from two guiding ideas: “Wing,” symbolizing ambition and the confidence to explore, and “Grove,” evoking the strength of community and growth rooted in integrity and wellness. Designed to be both forward-thinking and deeply values-based, Wingrove will open with grades PreK–8 before expanding to a full high school program the following year.

The 45-acre campus, designed by David Manfredi of Elkus Manfredi Architects, will blur the lines between indoors and outdoors, with sustainable buildings, green spaces, and purpose-built facilities that reflect the way students learn today. The project is backed by Related Ross, led by developer Stephen Ross, whose influence has reshaped West Palm Beach into a magnet for business and culture.

Karen Yung, founder and CEO of ElevateED, describes the school as “an unparalleled, future-focused institution that nurtures learners with resilience, adaptability, and global perspective.” Related Ross chairman Stephen Ross adds that Wingrove is “essential to developing Palm Beach County’s full potential as a magnet for growing businesses and thriving culture.”

Beyond its academic promise, Wingrove reflects the area’s rising profile as both a cultural and economic hub. The school’s launch coincides with a broader push to position Palm Beach County as a destination not just for seasonal living, but also for families seeking excellence in education year-round.

A search is currently underway for Wingrove’s founding Head of School, with enrollment expected to begin in 2028.
