Snow, Champagne, and Polo: Aspen’s Most Coveted Winter Kickoff

Après-ski season is finally here! Last week, the St. Regis World Snow Polo Championship ushered in the winter sports season with its 13th annual edition at the Rio Grande Park in Aspen. Set against a backdrop of snow-dusted peaks and crisp mountain air, the event was a star-studded affair, with Palm Beach’s very own polo legend Nacho Figueras at the center of it all, joined by close friend Prince Harry and fellow Palm Beacher Nicolas Roldan.

Fun fact: while polo is known today as a high-society sport from across the pond, a “Sport of Kings” (or of princes in this case,) the game was actually invented in ancient Persia more than 2,000 years ago, long before the English adopted its modern form, developed in India.

Among the faux fur coats and Moncler puffers dotting the sidelines of the prestigious tournament were Colman Domingo, Phoebe Dynevor, Goldie Hawn, Rebel Wilson, and Shaun White, all spotted sipping champagne and having a jolly good time.

With so many Palm Beachers headed west for the holidays, the Snow Polo Championship felt like the perfect action-packed kickoff to slope season, bringing familiar faces together in an entirely different setting and serving up a healthy dose of sartorial inspiration for the chalet.
