On March 18, Akris, in partnership with PALMER and the American Red Cross, hosted a screening of Akris: Fashion with a Heritage at the Norton Museum of Art.
Directed by Reiner Holzemer and filmed over two years, the documentary follows Albert and Peter Kriemler as the family-run house marks its 100th anniversary. It tracks the development of collections from initial fabric sourcing to final fittings and runway presentations, situating the work within the broader history of the brand and its long-standing collaborations with artists and architects.
Akris was founded in 1922 in St. Gallen, Switzerland, by Alice Kriemler-Schoch as an apron atelier rooted in the region’s textile tradition. Her son Max Kriemler later expanded the business and named it Akris, after her initials. More than a century on, the house remains family-owned and based in St. Gallen, with Albert Kriemler as creative director and Peter Kriemler leading the business. Since 2004, it has presented its collections in Paris, bringing that discipline to the center of the global fashion calendar.
Alongside the screening, Akris pledged to donate 10% of all in-store purchases made by event guests between March 11 and 25 to the American Red Cross.
