Fashion’s biggest night came and went in a blur of sculptural tailoring, theatrical gowns, and enough diamonds to rival the museum’s permanent collection. This year’s Met Gala celebrated the Costume Institute’s new exhibition, Costume Art, with a dress code fittingly titled “Fashion Is Art,” inviting guests to treat the red carpet as both runway and canvas. The exhibition, curated by Andrew Bolton, explores fashion as an embodied art form, pairing garments with paintings, sculpture, and objects spanning 5,000 years of art history.
I still cannot decide whether I prefer the actual red carpet arrivals or the Instagram memes the morning after. Because while the Met Gala may be fashion’s most prestigious evening, it is also its most unhinged. This is the kind of event that turns every group chat into an unsolicited panel of fashion critics and armchair stylists, debating whether a look is genius, absurd, or somehow both. (Or was that just my friends?)
Below, we round up a few special looks from the brands that continue to shape the fashion conversation both on and off the red carpet.
CHANEL
For Chanel, this year’s Met Gala carried an added layer of anticipation, marking Matthieu Blazy’s first Met Gala since taking over the house. Dressing nine celebrities throughout the evening, Blazy delivered exactly what one hopes for from Chanel. Nicole Kidman arrived in a dramatic red sequined gown requiring over 800 hours of embroidery, finished with feathers and organza flowers.

Margot Robbie arrived in a long draped golden lamé gown adorned with cascading ruffles in a gradient of flower petals and a feathered gold flower detail. The dress required 761 hours of work and incorporated more than 1,000 embroidered elements.

Meanwhile, Lily-Rose Depp wore a grey silk crepe de chine open-back gown embroidered with flowers, pearls, and beads, finished with a feather flower and pastel silk organza fringes. Her look alone required 597 hours of work and included more than 2,000 embroidered elements.

TIFFANY & CO.
Amanda Seyfried arrived at the Met Gala wearing high jewelry by Tiffany & Co, including a striking necklace set with five emerald-cut blue zircons, round cabochon emeralds, and diamonds. She paired the piece with Jean Schlumberger by Tiffany & Co. Five Leaves earrings, a platinum diamond ring featuring a stone of over five carats, and another ring centered around an emerald-cut blue zircon of more than nine carats surrounded by emeralds and diamonds. Because if one is attending fashion’s most excessive evening, one may as well arrive wearing enough gemstones to rival the Temple of Dendur.

DIOR
Dior also entered a new era at this year’s Met Gala, Jonathan Anderson’s first since taking over creative direction for the house.
Alexa Chung arrived in Dior wearing a satin halter-neck dress featuring a chiffon insert embroidered with a chartreuse-coloured geometric pattern. The look was completed by a fabric waterlily brooch at the waist and a headpiece composed of fabric lily-of-the-valley bouquets and black satin ribbons. Lily of the valley, or muguet in french, has long been considered a symbol of good luck and was famously Christian Dior’s favorite flower. He often carried sprigs of it for luck and even had the blooms sewn into the hems of his couture collections before runway shows.

Miranda Kerr wore a Dior white ensemble with a backless top in draped organza embroidered with rhinestone flowers and a georgette skirt embroidered with flowers and plumetis.

Karlie Kloss wore a Dior Spring-Summer 2026 Haute Couture long dress in ecru silk georgette, hand-pleated and twisted over a lightweight ruched tulle structure. The outfit was completed by a headpiece embroidered with fabric orchids.

Naomi Watts wore a Dior black satin dress with an outward-projecting skirt in gazar overlaid with a veil of muslin and embroidered with fabric flowers. She also wore Dior shoes and a Dior Haute Joaillerie ring and earrings.
