On Isola Bella, a small island in Italy’s Lake Maggiore, Louis Vuitton staged its Cruise 2024 runway show on the grounds of the Borromeo family castle.

Creative Director Nicolas Ghesquière created fantastical looks that give “rise to contemporary tales, populated by drifting creatures that abandon aquatic dwellings for the discovery of terrestrial wonders.” Garments were made to be worn seaside, rendered in neoprene with webbed, almost amphibious collars. Some models walked the runway in towering headpieces, while quilted fabrics and structured jackets brought to mind the medieval fairy tales of childhood.

Despite the rain, stars like Emma Stone, Léa Seydoux, Cate Blanchett, and Catherine Deneuve took a break from the Cannes Film Festival to view the collection.
