It was the “party of the season,” declared a number of veteran Palm Beach partygoers who attended Monday night’s screening and dinner hosted by PALMER to coincide with the launch of the latest edition, Volume 5.
Orchestrated by film impresario Peggy Siegal, the event celebrated Producer/Director Richard Dewey’s documentary, Radical Wolfe. Based on the late famed writer, Tom Wolfe, guests were encouraged to wear “Wolfe white” in his honor.
The night began with the screening at the Norton Museum of Art, and included a conversation with noted writer Michael Shnayerson and New York Public Library President Anthony Marx. Shnayerson spoke eloquently about his early remembrances of Wolfe, who was a close friend of his father, the late Harper’s Editor Robert B. Shnayerson. The New York Public Library is the recipient of Tom Wolfe’s papers, donated by a generous Palm Beach philanthropist. Marx spoke about the significance of the gift, especially for a writer whose work was so closely aligned with the cultural fabric of New York, and how it will allow historians, writers and students the ability to study the entirety of Wolfe’s works in perpetuity.
A seated candlelit dinner followed at local favorite, Pizza Al Fresco, on Worth Avenue.
